External Examination and Peer Reviews
My contributions as an external examiner and peer reviewer reflect a sustained commitment to academic excellence and demonstrate my recognition as a scholar in the broader academic community. I have served as an external examiner for a range of postgraduate theses and dissertations at institutions including the University of Karachi (Pakistan), Stellenbosch University, the University of Johannesburg, and the Durban University of Technology. This work has involved evaluating a diverse array of research topics, ranging from gender-based violence and health practices to the educational experiences of marginalised student populations across Master's and Doctoral levels. Notable examples include the PhD dissertation by Madiha Maryam on antenatal care practices in Karachi slums (University of Karachi, 2025), and Master's theses exploring the experiences of isiXhosa STEM students, Black immigrant women facing spousal abuse, and the cohabitation dynamics of Coloured working-class couples.
As a peer reviewer for academic journals, I have engaged critically with contemporary scholarship, offering rigorous feedback that enhances the intellectual quality and integrity of published research. Together, these roles underscore my growing standing as a trusted academic voice, both locally and internationally, and demonstrate my active role in shaping scholarship and advancing disciplinary knowledge in Sociology and related fields.
